It’s not every day that you get handed a Goffriller viola and told, “Take it around the world.” But that’s exactly what happened to me: and yes, I’m still pinching myself.
With this incredible instrument on my shoulder, I found myself playing concerts from Beijing to Berlin, Munich to Hamburg, and from Kronberg, Geneva, Lucerne and Zürich all the way to Dubai and back to Amsterdam. Each city had its own rhythm, each hall its own magic and each audience its own version of “Wait… what is that viola?!”
Playing a historic instrument like this made me feel deeply privileged. There’s something humbling about holding so much history under your chin and then trying to do it justice in front of hundreds of listeners.
It reminded me why I love being a violist: blending stories, sound, and soul, and sharing music with people everywhere.
I’m grateful for every note, every stage, every city and for the reminder that music really does travel farther than we ever could on our own.
